Global Marine Outfitter Appoints SAGlobal to Unify Finance & Operations with Microsoft Dynamics 365

Customer Overview

The client is a world leader in high-end interior outfitting services who combine design services, specialist joinery and installation across five continents. Headquartered in Northern Ireland, the client specialises in new build, refurbishment, refit and fit-out services to the marine, commercial and private sectors.

Customer Situation

The client uses primarily manual processes, spreadsheets and a third party provider as their enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, as well as a series of disconnected point solutions. This includes tools for finance, operational management and human resource management. Because of these disconnected systems, the client currently has a number of key processes that are highly manual and require significant manipulation to complete. This not only causes inefficiencies within the finance area but also delays the financial close process and reporting timeframes.

SAGlobal were originally engaged after the project was started with another partner. But due to a lack of project governance and overall strategy, the partner did not deliver, and the work was not up to standard. After the client decided that the original partner was not best aligned to them as a business, they sought the help of a new partner.

SAGlobal were approached to take over the project, to assist and help the client get the project restarted and ultimately assist them through to go-live. The engagement began with a two-day workshop at the client's headquarters. During this time the status, health, lessons learnt, next actions and more were discussed, to give SAGlobal as much information as possible. SAGlobal prepared a detailed plan, quote to take on the project and agreed to a go-live date of mid-2019.


By implementing Dynamics 365, the client aims to improve global financial management practices and controls. Trusting a global Microsoft partner such as SAGlobal, they look to accelerate the financial close process to improve reporting and visibility across the international business. Another key aspect of the process has been to reduce manual data entry and manipulation. This will improve efficiency and productivity levels considerably. The client will gain a flexible technology platform that can easily integrate with other corporate systems and technologies to drive efficiencies and the flow of information across their entire operation.

Key drivers for the implementation of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations are an increased level of business intelligence to gain insight into operations and projects. Advancing project management and accounting capabilities are also areas where the client wanted to improve, as is a focus on item management and tracking, cost posting and reporting. The client's vision is to be the most successful outfitting company in the world and to achieve this there is a real need to support future growth of the business. SAGlobal provided expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 to aid the digital transformation process within the client's business.
